I don’t photograph until it looks good. I photograph until it’s right.
I don’t photograph until it looks good. I photograph until it’s right.

about me

I didn’t become a photographer at an art exhibition in Berlin,
but in an air force barracks.

At the time, my sister had given me some darkroom equipment as a gift. An officer by day, I stood at the sink in the evening with a developing tank and curiosity – and suddenly there was a picture.

And this feeling: I want to know how this works. How a moment becomes visible. How something that would otherwise disappear remains.

What began as a side project back then has never left me. After my military career, I studied photography in Glasgow, worked for international clients and explored the world with my camera.

What interests me
is never the role.

I don’t photograph faces. I photograph people.
When you come to me, you don’t want a pretty picture.
You want to capture something that cannot otherwise be shown.
Something inside you, between you as a couple or family.

A story, a special moment, a turning point.
What you get from me is not a photo shoot.
But a space where you can be yourself.
With everything that makes you who you are.
Sometimes that is beautiful, sometimes painful,
but always honest.

A piece of yourself that you will look back on with pride later on.
And the same applies in a professional context:
A good business portrait does not show a role.
Instead, it shows the personality behind it.

Because people don’t choose companies –
but for other people.

I have worked in over seventy countries on five continents with people
who bear a lot of responsibility – and with others who are hardly ever in the spotlight.

I have taken photographs on construction sites in Saudi Arabia, in factory halls in China
and filmed in factories in South America. For companies, campaigns and magazines.

What interests me is never the role.
But who is actually standing in front of me.
How someone looks when they are not being observed.
What happens when the pretence stops and something real begins.

Today, I work with people who want to show themselves – just as they are.
In TRUEPRINTS, in personal branding, but also in corporate headshots.

Because a good picture is not a picture of the outside.
It is one that shows you from the inside.

Authentic images for personalities,
spaces and companies.
Let’s talk about your project.

Social commitment

I believe it is important to get involved with young people without focusing on financial aspects. For this reason, I now volunteer as a university lecturer in the Professional Photography programme at my alma mater, City of Glasgow College.

Local commitment to my region

For several years now, I have been helping school leavers and young adults from integration classes to enter the world of work by providing them with professional application photos that show who they are. → Read more
